Kaymakli Derinkuyu, Kaymaklı Turkey

There are two important cities in Cappadocia. One of them is in Kaymaklı and the other is in Derinkuyu. This region is very important for tourism with its mysterious characteristics of the underground cities.

Kaymaklı is a small town 20 km. to Nevşehir and 10 km. to Derinkuyu. Grapes, aprieot and potatoes are grown there. Only four stories of Kaymaklı underground city can be visited due to safety reasons. it is not completely open for visitors.

The rooms, corridors, the stairs, the ceiling, the floor and the walls of the underground city have a mild structure which enables to open tunnels and hollows. This volcanic body, in which you can hollow easily, is safe, durable and it does not permit water leakages. it is cool in summer and warm in winter. These underground cities retain all their characteristics without any destruction or collapse due to these characteristies. Same color motifs were recognized in Kaymaklı underground city. Maybe the divisions including color motifs have not been discovered yet. it is seen that the city was defended by rocky covers in form of tunnels for outside attacks.
